Hey! So Glad You're Here.
Hello! My name is Daniel Park and I am a current freshman majoring in Electric & Computer engineering at UT Austin. As a student interested in Economics, Statistics, and Computer Science, I decided to complete a project related to data analytics with the help of people from Airbnb. This was similar in some ways to my previous project where I was able to help create a website for Compassion through HTML and CSS.
Unlike other schools, UT Austin's engineering program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that teaches students to develop analytical tools that solve real-world problems. This is evident from their Strategic Research Plan where I could immerse myself in new cultures to tackle real-world problems that are meaningful in communities. I am interested in both studying abroad and research, so I believe the Strategic Research Plan is something that would be perfect for me as it encompasses both of my passions. Also, as someone with interest in math and computer science, “Machine Learning” and “Data Visualization” have been a focus for me throughout my time at UT as I looked into the software aspect of programming. These classes will enable me to examine a problem from different perspectives through statistical modeling and algorithms to help find innovative solutions to the world's problems.

In the future, I believe that my degree in Computer Engineering from UT-Austin will help me serve these communities more effectively. For my MQP, I would love to develop a large drone to supply essential needs to villages in developing countries. This would be helpful when conditions such as natural disasters or future pandemics necessitate organizations to donate their contributions without in-person delivery. At, UT-Austin I will bring my dreams of helping others to live through my passion for computer engineering.

I also was part of the McCombs Summer Institute during the summer of 2022 where I was able to take 15 credit classes including marketing, management, business law, finance, and accounting which allowed me to get a minor. The marketing, management, and finance course has been relevant to building this website as many of the data analytics contribute to marketing the Airbnb product and even keeping track of the finance and accounting portion of the Airbnb company
